Emerson Network Power Introduces Integrated Rack PDU and Management Solution
Marriage of Avocent DSView 3, Liebert MPX and MPH Rack PDUs Enables Expanded Data Centre Remote Access, Management and Infrastructure Control
Columbus, Ohio– July 21, 2010 – With dense servers drawing
more power than ever, and racks being packed with complex and
sensitive gear, data centre managers need to assure maximum
computing performance and systems availability—while optimizing rack
load capacity and energy savings. Emerson Network Power, a business
of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling
Business-Critical Continuity™, today announced the first
integrated offering from its Avocent and Liebert businesses,
bringing infrastructure visibility and management to the rack
equipment level.
The Avocent DSView 3 management software and the Avocent Power
Manager plug-in now support the Liebert MPX and Liebert MPH rack PDU
product lines, delivering real-time monitoring, metering, alarms,
notifications and management capabilities.
“We are thrilled to introduce the first of many Avocent product
integrations across the Emerson Network Power portfolio of products
and solutions,” said Steve Hassell, president of the Avocent
products and services business of Emerson Network Power. “Only six
months post-acquisition, this first product integration demonstrates
the success of the Avocent integration and provides validation of
Emerson Network Power’s strategic vision. Our ability to
interconnect with the other Emerson Network Power product offerings
will provide real value to our customers who are struggling to
understand and proactively manage their data centre infrastructure.”
Avocent DSView 3 management software enables secure, out-of-band,
centralized management of all connected IT and network devices in
today’s often complex and geographically dispersed data centres.
Avocent Power Manager software adds power monitoring capability to
the access and control functions of Avocent DSView 3 software. The
addition of Avocent Power Manager gives companies the ability to
monitor and measure IT energy consumption, and determine costs and
trends across all levels within their data centres and remote
locations.
The Liebert MPX and MPH rack PDU systems offer industry leading
performance and flexibility along with remote management
functionality, including receptacle level control, power monitoring
and environmental monitoring.
The product integration adds the management functionality of
Liebert MPH and MPX to Avocent DSView 3 and Power Manager. Existing
customers that have Avocent DSView 3 software now have the ability
to enable access, control and reporting of the Liebert MPH and MPX
product lines. Existing Liebert MPH and MPX customers have the
ability to purchase Avocent DSView 3 software for single console
access to their heterogeneous rack equipment.
The integrated product is available worldwide now. For more
